NDIS support in Kowanyama
Eunoia Lane provides person-centred NDIS support in Kowanyama, working with people with disability, families and carers to plan support around individual goals, culture and everyday life. Kowanyama is on Cape York’s far west coast, around 600 kilometres north-west of Cairns, in a landscape of wetlands, delta mangroves and forest country.
Support planned around people, language and place
Kowanyama means “place of many waters” in Yir Yoront. The community includes Kokoberra, Yir Yoront (or Kokomenjen) and Kunjen clans, with distinct languages and cultural connections. We take time to understand each participant’s preferred way of communicating, the people important to them and the local considerations that should guide support planning.
Road access and water crossings can be affected during the wet season, so travel, timing and practical arrangements are discussed early and confirmed before support begins.
